I’m completely exaggerating when I call today the longest day of the life – I realize this, but exaggeration can make for a great blog post so here we go.
This morning, I climbed out of bed; pulled myself together, out the door and onto a bus; made my stop at 7-11 with my portable mug for morning coffee (It’s been my daily ritual for the last two weeks of teaching in the AM hours), and taught the independent winter program students about green screens and deleted scenes and writing movie reviews.
After class got out at noon, my co-workers and I gathered for a special lunch meeting with the CEO of the school. Our branch is going to be on an overhaul repair plan next semester, and we’re all getting ready for it. You know you’re company doesn’t consider you indispensable when they require your cooperation for things like this. Next semester’s bound to be exciting for a variety of reasons.
I taught class this afternoon from 1:30 to 4:00. Then I spent two hours creating a poster for the BASEBALL BINGO game we’re in charge of for the Last Day of School Chinese New Year Holiday Market activity tomorrow. That thing took me two hours, and it is beautiful.

Once I was finally out of the school, I made my way to the Dingxi MRT station where I was meeting a friend who agreed to lend me his huge backpacker’s bag over Chinese New Year. I’m traveling to Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Bali. I leave on Saturday! After catching up with my friend for a few minutes, I made my way back home.
At home, I did all of my laundry, got myself dinner, and designed a flier for a marketing project that’s going down on Saturday. I worked on this until about 11:30pm. Then I headed over to the laundromat for one last round of clothes in the dryer and my marketing partner’s house to pound out Saturday’s plan.
It was about 2 in the morning when I left my friend’s house. I got back home, put the finishing touches on the flier, readied myself for bed and am now writing this blog. There are not enough hours between right now and my Songza alarm…
